Hindu Dharma – Part 5

Infact, we cannot recognize the dangers happening to our dharma. Then how can we take precautions? Let us review today’s situation. Once I was traveling in a bus. Behind me five people were seated on a long seat. In the middle of them one christian made room for himself and sat there. Slowly he started the conversation. “What a pity? Newly married couple went to Tirupati and were found dead in a cottage. Venkateswara Swamy could not protect those devotees. Earlier I was also a devotee of Venkateswara Swamy. After seeing all these things only, I have to believe in Jesus Christ. He is our savior”. Thus he commenced to talk. After observing his trend, I could not keep quiet. I asked him, ‘Have you seen the incident in Tirupati?’. He said
‘It came in the newspapers’. I again asked him ‘Have you seen another news which came in the same news paper?’ That christian questioned me ‘what is it?’. In a country when a cyclone came, two hundred and fifty people took shelter in a church and when that church collapsed and all those people were buried alive, this is that news item. In the news paper of 26–12-1990, there was the news item with the caption “Tragedy during the Christmas celebrations”. We heard that in Haj travel, several people died in a stampede and fire accident. So why should we make use of death for propagating a religion? I asked that christian. “What all you are saying is false”, the christian started arguing with me… Seeing this a neighbor said. “Let it be sir! why this argument?”. I felt sorry for that and said “my friend! when that man (christian), without minding his travel, unnecessarily commented on your beloved God Sri Venkateswara Swamy, you listened to him lending your ears. You are asking me who is your colleague Hindu, to stop, while I was giving the real and correct reply. That is why our dharma is getting destroyed. Tha was how I expressed my anguish. Then another person opened his eyes and immediately he said to that christian person
who argued with me “Master! what is it you are doing by criticizing our God, instead of minding your travel?”. With this, that religious propagator slowly got down in the next step. Such incidents do happen in bus and railway journeys. But nobody bothers about these propagators and give scope to such adverse criticisms. These people that by hope in such attempts, that at least a few people would believe them. It is true. Like that gradually they are able to change the minds of Hindus.

But what is it we are doing? Leave alone propagating our religion, we do not even bother to know our own religion. If anybody criticizes our religion, we do not feel like opening our mouth and on the contrary we nod our heads and support them. What is this pitiable condition? We do not say anything, if people of other religion talk to each other about their God. But how can we keep quiet listening to their criticisms and bad comments about our Gods, puranas and mantras. We also have flesh and blood in us. Once the people of other religion in one of their pamphlets, had commented badly about a mantra taken from our Veda. If we do not deny and condemn such things, it amounts to destroying our own dharma even after being aware of such attacks. While all the Hindus are seeing and keeping quiet at such acts of injustice done to the Hindu dharma, in a state of weakness, some other emotional people are indulging in bad acts of other religion and these acts are causing harm to Hindu dharma. Wickedness is not the nature of a Hindu. Whoever does such acts which cause harm to Hindu dharma and in whichever form, they are to be considered as anti-Hindu only.

Acts of harm are being done every moment to the Hindu dharma. But they are not brought to our notice. Even if they happen before our eyes, we are not in a position to recognize them. Even if recognized, no attempt is being made by an ordinary man to stop them. If a Hindu can grow to the stage of recognizing the wrongs done to his dharma, and to question them in a composed manner even by way of saying “What is it”. All these acts of injustice will automatically stop. Thieves rob the homes in which people sleep. If we are wakeful, they do not come at all. We need not to do anything to them. It is enough if we are wakeful.

Surprising thing is, people, who so long as they were the Hindus do not know anything about our religious dharmas and deities, but the moment they convert in to other religion, begin carrying the book of new religion wherever they go. They quote the sentences from it. What is this change? Hindus, even after seeing this and knowing the values of Hinduism do not try to tell other about ours like Bhagvathgita. They do not think about the danger befalling our religion but only about earning money and their selfishness. Hindu dharma is Sanatana dharma, birth of which nobody can say. When it became fulfledged and was shining brilliantly, Christianity and Islam were not even born at that time. Today, those two religions have shared the two halves of world and are competing with each other in devouring our country also. While this is so, the Hindus are not having the sense to protect their Hindu religion which has only limited existence in this only. What to say about this deplorable state?
